Rome Day Two

We had a great tour today! We saw so many things: Vatican, Pantheon, the Forum, some Bascillica, Trevi Fountain, Colloseum (again), and St. PeterĂ s Bascilica. We met some very nice people on the tour. One older couple was here to tour after being at the Olympics to see their granddaughter win the silver medal in snowboard cross. That is the downhill snowboarding. You might have seen her. She is the girl in the Visa commercial where her coach tells her to pretend her Visa Checkcard was stolen so she will go fast down the mountain. Well, she did go fast. Her grandfather told me she would have won the gold, but she got excited at the very end and tried to show off and ended up falling. Silver is still very good. The whole family was interviewed on The Today Show with Katie.
We also had our first real Roman meal today on the tour. It was right at the base of the Colloseum. They serve their meals in courses. They also include wine with everything. It is cheaper than water in some cases. They start out with a pasta, then bring a meat or fish and vegetable. Then dessert. Mmmm......For dinner I ate four cheese rissoto. We both thought it was very good. Jason had lemon pork and Penne.
It rained most of the day, but was usually a fairly light rain. We both didn't mind it. At the Vatican, the line was wrapped around the plaza. The tour guide told us to cut in front of everyone. So we did just that. Excuse, porfavore! Over and over. I think we were cussed out in at least five languages. It was great. Hey, when inRome!
We hope you enjoy these pictures. We miss everyone! Oh, and Mom, you can send us regular emails. We check those, too. But you are still a very cool blogger :o)

Pictures: from top then left to right. Sorry about the layout, I don't read Italian.
-Some Bascilica we can't remember the name of. Very beautiful, though. All that you see is tiny pieces of glass and ceramics made into mosiacs.
-Trevi Fountain
-The Vatican
- The church the convent we are staying in is attached to (and yes, the nun asked me if I "sprekinse deutch" or however you spell it.)
- This is the breakfast room. Very pretty.
- Jason and I at the Colloseum
- The forum
- The Forum at night (we saw it at night because we were still waiting on the dern bus)
- Colloseum

Too cool about the silver metal winner. Dad, Grandma, and Aunt Carolyn all knew exactly who you were describing. I will have to watch now so I can "meet" her too. Wow, it must be great to have supportive grandparents. Oh well, your kids will have cool old ones!! LY

The pics are great! Rome has many beautiful places to visit and I'm excited that you get to see them :)
Have you had a chance to go to the catacombs? (I don't know if it is even allowed)
