Not another Museum.....

This is our bedroom at the convent.

Ok, do not roll your eyes. Seriously...the old stuff is starting to run together. Jason is loving it. I am getting a bit tired of ancient art. We did not (the keyboard does not allow me to do contractions incase you were wondering) do much today. I, yes I did, handed Jason the map and let him navigate what we did today. Thus, we made our appointment to the Borghese Gallery (by my insistence on a taxi, that, granted, ripped us off), but we did not make it to anything else today. So we spent hours waiting on buses, riding buses and just wandering around. I was very calm and relaxed. Jason, on the other hand, was a wreck. He says he was just (add quotation marks here cause I cannot) zoned in (end quotation), but he was very snippy and never looked up from his map. I finally took it away and we both decided he should not be incharge of the map anymore.
After the gallery, we walked through the Villa del Borghese (say bor gay zay) which is Romes central park. It was very beautiful. We strolled and watched the ducks at the pond. See pictures.
We then headed to the Vatican Museum (very long way across river) but did not make it until it closed ( at one thirty). So we headed back across the river to the Pantheon to eat lunch. We ate at a cool little place recommended by the book run by a lady called Mikki. So I just had to eat there. I had a mushroom, lettuce (called rocket) and mozzarella sandwich. The mozzarella was very good. We will have to find a cheese shop before we leave. Jason had a plate of meats and another plate of meat with rocket and tomatoes. Jason likes meat.
We then went to the top of a museum, where there was a cafè, and watched the sun set over Roma. See pictures.
Then we discovered some more ruins and went to a shopping distict where we spent no money. We saw lots of neat things, but all too expensive. Jason wants to go back to buy some shoes, though. He is like a girl about shoes. But we did find a place going out of business, so they were very cheap.
That is all for now. We are really tired and have huge blisters on our feet. We are going back to our nuns now to sleep. Chow Bella!

Isn't it amazing how very simple the accommodations are at the convent? Looks very much like the homes I have stayed in Ukraine. That is the norm for most of Europe, especially in the villages and small towns. We Americans are far too spoiled to having all our "stuff". Enjoy making your memories. They will give you many a warm fuzzy in the winter of your life :)

Suffice it to say, you and Jason may not be signing up for the Amazing Race any time soon? (laugh) Keith and I would defintiely never make it if we had to decide who would control the map!

Loving the pictures and so happy you guys are having a good time.

By the way-- your convent room looks like a palace compared to our room in Russia. Live it up!

Ciao!

I was in here busting a gut laughing so hard that Savannah muted the TV to ask me what in the world I was laughing at. I wish I was there to see you "calmly" hand Jason the map to "navigate". I'm laughing again now. Then you made the executive decision to take it away and resume your navigator duties only to get to the Vatican Museum as it was closing. What a day. I'm so sorry. Oh, and what I was laughing hardest about was:

"Jason had a plate of meats and
another plate of meat with rocket and tomatoes. Jason likes meat."

I hope he doesn't get Mad Cow or Avian Flu. Jason certainly does like meat. Bring back some cheese man. Hannah likes cheese...not mad cow or crazy poultry.
